Mintage count of Kookaburras
I simply can not find the perth mints mintage amounts anywhere on the web. Is there any site that has a chart depicting mintage quantities of all their coins? I am looking at a few kilo coins and want to see how many there are out in the wild.
Thanks. |
Re: Mintage count of Kookaburras
Interesting question but probably no one knows. Someone posted Lunar mintages recently. I didn't exactly try to memorize them but I'm pretty sure that several of the silver kilo coins had mintages of below 2000. My feel is that Kooks are rarer than Lunars.

Looks like 1 Kg Kooks were mostly minted in the hundreds, pretty rare.

BullRider, your first link had what I was looking for. Thanks. Does the mint openly disclose the mintage count? I find it strange that such info can't be found on their site. |

Re: Mintage count of Kookaburras
It would be very nice to have a more comprehensive list of kook mintage and versions.
If anybody has good sources or recieve info from the mint it please post here. Same with Kangaroos etc etc :) |
Re: Mintage count of Kookaburras
Hi Tojaktoty, generally speaking, the Mint will not disclose the amount of coins that they have minted due to security reasons. They do melt down any coins that is in poor condition.
The two recommend sites to you prior are a good reference point. Some sites might have minted and actual. http://www.australianstamp.com/Coin-...ver/silver.htm http://ansuz.sooke.bc.ca/reference/kookaburra.php If you are still looking for 1 Kilo Silver coins but I have a few of them. Both in Kookaburras and Lunar Series as well. I can do you a special on the Lunar Ox as I have two of them. |
